1. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
Series: Daughter of Smoke and Bone
The ending of the first book really threw me off. The second book had a better balance of first and second world fantasy.
2. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Sarah J. Maas has been labelled a problematic author, but let's face it this book blew it out of the park! I loved the way she handled PTSD, depression and domestic violence.
3. Cress by Marissa Meyer
Series: The Lunar Chronicles
Cress and Thorne. That. Is. IT.
4. The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon
Series: The Bone Season
This novel is so well crafted. One of my all time favourite sequels. My copy even has some "writing advice" in it from Shannon herself. Just read the first book, even if you didn't like it, go on to book two. Just for it's ending. SO FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!
5. The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
Series: The Raven Boys
